Remembering Memorial Day

Last weekend I cleaned out my mom's garage and found this picture of my dad. I thought it was such a great picture and said so much. This was during the Vietnam war although I'm not sure what year. My dad ended his military career of 21 years as a recruiter for the US Army. What a life of service.

Memorial Day at the Lake

We spent Memorial day at the lake with Wes' family. We had a good time. Enjoy the pictures.

Wes' niece teaches him how to play Guitar Hero. She beat him pretty bad.

End of the Year

Today we celebrated the last day of Weekday School. (Where did the year go?) The older children had a small program that they performed for all the parents and younger kids. Rachel got to see the program and loved it because they sang songs with motions. I saw her trying to do the motions with them. She was cute. After the program and graduation of the four year olds we went down to the playground and had a picnic lunch. Rachel didn't want any part of eating she only wanted to play. She played hard and then we headed home. She was asleep in the car in a matter of minutes. We do have a summer program at our church that Rachel will be apart of in the month of July. My child is a one year old and I already have her in year-round school - but she loves it!

Rachel loves playing in the house on the playground.

Rachel has mastered the small slide.

Friends

This week was a busy one for Rachel and I. We met with several friends and finished up Weekday School. Thank goodness for the long weekend coming up. :)

My good friend, Susan and her daughter, Madeline are in town visiting for a month. We met up at Target and then headed to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I have become a huge fan of Chick-Fil-A since having Rachel. They have the nicest and most helpful staff. You can tell they are a company whose mission is to serve others and serve them well.

I met up with my friend, Tiffany and her son Marshall and we went on a walk together.

Later in the week Rachel and I ate with Debbie at McAlister's Deli. Rachel got a kids meal which included pizza, drink, and cookies for $3.25. I thought that was a great deal! Also FYI Kid's eat free on Tuesday's (at least at the McAlister's that I ate at.) I Love finding great deals on kid's meals.

Water Day

Yesterday was water day at Rachel's pre-school. They had 3 pools out, a water table, bubbles, and a sprinkler set up. It was very small to us but very big to these little children. Rachel had a good time and I snapped some pictures of her splashing around.

Happy Mother's Day

This little girl has made me a mother! What a precious gift from God. I can't believe I've had her for only 16 months, it seems like a life time. She is my sweetie pie and I love her so much!

Nana and Pops

Rachel loves her Nana and Pops and I know that they love her. Nana loved Rachel all weekend and Pops went on many walks outside with Rachel. I think all three of them had a blast this weekend.

We gave Nana a stepping stone for Mother's day. This was one you have to make. So Rachel helped her stir the mortar mix to get it ready to pour into the mold. Afterwards we were going to put Rachel's hand print in it. Rachel was not a fan of putting her hand in the mix but after a talk from Pop's she did it one time and one time only. The stepping stone turned out pretty good.

Outside!

We went to the lake this weekend to be with Wes' parents. This was Rachel's first time getting in the lake. The water was still pretty cold but she didn't care she wanted to stay in as long as she could. She also ran through the sprinkler a few times and played in her baby pool. She loves being outside these days. She asks to go outside all the time. At the lake, she would get so upset if someone went outside without her so sometimes you had to sneak out the back door so she wouldn't see you.

First steps into the lake.

Rachel dipped her face in the water and was not to happy.

Fun in the lake.

Mommy's a lot more comfortable with Daddy swimming with me in the lake.

Daddy and Rachel

Of course Tyke had to join in the fun. He swam all day Saturday and loved it.

Climbing to New Heights

Rachel is becoming a climber. If she can get her knee on it and grab hold of something, then she can pull herself up. This was her climbing into a chair in our room. I turned around and she was just standing there. I don't mind her climbing into chairs but our newest battle is that she wants to stand up in them and not sit down. She's even brave enough to walk around on the chair. What are we going to do with our climber?

Videos of Rachel

Cleo the Cat

Grammy has a cat at her house named Cleo. Rachel calls her, "EO." Rachel loves Cleo and she gets so excited when she sees her. Cleo hides a lot so we only see her about once a day but when we do see her Rachel makes sure she gets to play with her.

Big Bubbles

Rachel has adjusted very well at Grammy's. She loves going outside and playing with bubbles. From the time she gets up until the time she goes to bed she's either saying, "Outside" or "Barney." She has about 12 teeth now and is a good eater. She loves strawberries and bananas. Rachel ate her first Chic-Fil-A chicken this past week and loved it. She also ate Daddy's shrimp on Sunday and really liked it too.

Daddy's Chicka Pea

Wes is completely in love with his Chicka Pea. He took these pictures of her last Sunday before we left for church. He's a great dad and would not trade Rachel for the world.

Moving

Well, we did it! We moved! What a hard job. And I'm happy to say that both Wes and I are still alive. I thought we would kill each other a couple of times but we made it. We're at my mom's now and we're hoping to find a new house near her.

Sleeping Beauty

One morning Rachel woke up earlier than usual so I went and got her and brought her to our bed. This was Rachel's first time ever sleeping in our bed. I think she liked it.
